The cassette is compatible with the Shimano HyperGlide freebody so it should replace exactly another freebody cassette (no freewheel). Beyond that the most important thing is to make sure your derailleur has the teeth capacity required. In short, if you replace an older 36 large pinion cassette with this one you should be ok, if the older cassette has a smaller large pinion than you have to check the limit of your derailleur. Use this formula to find the new capacity that needs to be supported:
